At the US 2024 average of 16.48¢ per kWh (EIA), using each appliance's typical daily kWh. Your use, model and rate will differ.
How the cost is worked out
- Convert watts to kilowatts: watts ÷ 1,000.
- Multiply by hours of use to get kWh.
- Multiply by your price per kWh. A 1,500 W heater for 8 hours uses 12 kWh; at 16.48¢ that's $1.98.
Appliances with thermostats (fridges, freezers, AC, heaters on a thermostat) don't draw full power all the time, which is why the table uses typical daily kWh. Your bill also has fixed charges and taxes; EIA's average price includes delivery and fixed charges spread per kWh but not most taxes. See electricity rates by state.
